Matter of Fact Stamps is a work that consists of seven small stamps, each created with a unique design, including a variety of colors and typefaces. The stamps are stored and presented in a small manila envelope. This collection features a variety of short matter-of-fact phrases, including “I put this here so that it would be sent to you.”
Matter of Fact Stamps highlights the literal steps and actions that any mailer faces, when sending a letter. This project encourages the viewer to reflect on their own compliance with formats, standards and systems, (in this case, presented through the US Postal Service). It is straight to the point. How often do we encounter transparency like this, with material or systems simply stating their purpose or meaning? How often do we encounter media that is straight to the point, that does not contain hidden meaning or messages?
